Tour of the Navy Base

I thought that the tour was really boring at the beginning and that I really wanted to leave, but then we ate and the food was really good. After we ate we went on the ships for a tour and that was the funnest part because all the stuff that we learned at the beginning was all coming together and started to make sense. My most memorable part was when the tour guide locked me in one of the storage rooms at the very bottom of the boat. I really hope we can go back again because I think we all had lots of fun.

Navy Day Trip

On Wednesday our class took an interesting field trip to CFB Esquimalt, the Naval Base. We arrived in the morning and waited until the organizer, Darelle, arrived. She gave us an introduction, then immediately took us on a walk to fleet school, where the Navy students learn to do their trade. Once there, we split off into groups and started on our way.
The first place my group visited, after a quick look at the woodworking room, was the electrical section of the school. Our guide, Fillion, happened to have a thick, sort of hard to understand French accent. He showed us all these hands-on classrooms that had intricate-looking equipment. If I was allowed to, which I was obviously not, I totally would have gone and fiddled with all the wires and switches, trying to see how they all work together. After numerous confusing classrooms (due to Fillion's fast explanation
s and the complex diagrams plastering the walls) we ventured over to the machinery, and Fillion left us with some other guy who knew what all the machines did. I can't quite remember where that was because the whole place was so huge. Every little hall lead to another room filled with things like motors, engines, welding equipment, etc. and everything was pretty organized in each room. I was surprised about how many categories of jobs there were. Finally, our tour was finished and my head was swimming with all the information I had absorbed along the way.
Next was lunch at the cafeteria. Surprisingly, they had amazing food, but that's just my opinion. The place served everything from sandwiches and salad to pasta and cereal, and I even had marshmallow salad! It's something I will have to find out how to make. Once lunch was over and we were all stuffed, we headed out for another walk, but this time it was to go tour the ships. It turns out they are not quite as big inside, in fact, they were completely stuffy and small. Out tour guide was super nice, and he showed us around inside the ship. The stairs were really steep, but we saw a bunch of sailors effortlessly slide down them, which was a bit humorous seeing how they are supposed to be serious. There were these weird red hatches everywhere in the ship, and it turns out they were emergency trap doors used to escape from fires, and the odd curious person you may have needed to escape from when playing a prank... but never mind about that. Over all, the whole trip was pretty fun, and I originally thought it was going to be quite boring, but the people in the Navy proved me wrong. Just don't expect me to be joining the Navy anytime soon.

Our Trip to The Navy Base!

Yesterday we went to the Navy Base, as you all know! It was quite interesting to learn about what happened in the Navy. The beginning seemed sort of boring to me though, because I just wasn't as interested in the Fleet School. It might have been better if our tour guide didn't look so uncomfortable. The things there seemed like a normal school. That made it feel like we left our school to get a tour of another. Which in a way, we did. Over all, the Fleet School wasn't all that exciting. What was partially interesting in there was the huge guns we got to see in there! They were so big! What I did like about going to the Navy Base was the cafeteria and the boat. The cafeteria was really cheap for some really good food. My favourite part was definitely the boat. It was really fun to go all around in it and our tour guide was really really attractive. I'm serious. The tour might have been a hundred times worse if we didn't have him. Anyways, even though I found my love for life, the rest of the tour was really cool too! I liked the emergency doors at the bottom of the cabins. I thought that was a really cool! I also loved trying on all the fire fighting clothes. It was such a fun day!

Navy Base :)

I was talking to some people in my class, asking if they liked the field trip. I got a variety of answers, ranging from yes, no, kind of and all sorts like that. Do you want my opinion? Well I loved it! It was the coolest field trip i've ever been on. When we first got their, I wasn't sure if i was going to like it or not. Yes i'll admit the first hour or so it was boring, but once we got to the cafeteria it started to get interesting. It started off with a bus full of excited students, we finally arrived and got the tour started. The leader of our group, Neil was his name was also a Hall Tech. A Hall Tech is someone who knows all of the jobs, and went to school for them. For example, a Hall Tech would know plumbing, sheet metal, carpentry, wood working and lots more. After we got our tour of the Fleet school we walked on down to the cafeteria. At the cafeteria their were tons and tons of things to choose from. It varied from salad bars, spaghetti, sandwiches, cereal, fries and much more! Finally after that we got to go on tours of the ships! That was my favourite part, we got to go down all stairs, and in all the little cupboards! The funniest part i think would have been when Ashley St. Jean (our tour guide) locked Derek in the bottom of the ship! Derek was screaming like a little girl! :) Overall i think it was a great learning experience and i hope to go back someday! :)

My Trip to the Navy Base

Our field trip to the navy base out in Esquimalt, was a new experience for me. We went for the whole day, which was pretty awesome, but also tiring because we had to walk everywhere (except from school and back). My two favourite parts while we were there were: having lunch and having a big tour of the ships. I liked having lunch there because I got to see the cafeteria that the "navy people" get to eat in every single day ( the food was delicious!). I loved the tour because we got to climb in to almost everything that lead to new areas, and before we got to go home, I played a game with the group that I was in to see which side could put up the right flag that my tour guide said (it was a tie! 1-1).

Field Trip to the Navy Base :)

I learned a lot from the field trip to the Navy Base. I learned why they go out to sea, and what there job is. Something i learned from that, that i didnt know before, was that they do search and rescue. There job is actually very important, and taken seriously. Always hard at work, doing something. We went through the classrooms, where they get taught on what they have to do before they go to the ships. This part of the field trip was not my favourite because i found it boring and dragged on. We went to the cafeteria and they had lots of choices to choose from. This was my second favorite part :) After that we went on the big ship that was docked, it got interesting. We went through where the sailors cabins were. I personally would not like to go on the ship for a long period of time, because i get claustrophobic very easily, and their beds especially, are very close together, and there is close to no room. There was lots of stairs, and ladders going in to different places in the ship. I think the navy is a very important, and i think it is great what they do for us. I really did enjoy this field trip, and had a lot of fun.

Navy Base Woot Woot.

On Wednesday, our class went to the Navy Base, it was okay. Not really a place the girls want to be. I mean, guns and electrical, ships, shooting... whoohoo. More a guy thing I would say. Anywho, when we arrived there by bus, we first visited fleet school. We split off into two groups with each a tour guide. The group that I was in had a tour guide with bushy eyebrows. Our group walked down the halls on our way to the Electrical room. It had switches, dials... all kinds of electric material. One of the men that was at the Fleet school, told us all about what they do. Then we moved on to other rooms, a woodshop, drafting, etc. They were interesting but as I said before, more of a guy thing. After all that we visited the metal working shop and other shops that had to do with metal. The last room we visited was a huge room with a tank and somet other "dangerous" weapon. After lunch, it was said that we were going to go on a fleet ship. I didn't think it was going to be that exciting until Nicole, Kalina and I found out who our tour guide was... man. What a hot tamale. Really. That was the best part of the trip. Thank god we didn't have Mr.Who Shapes Their Eyebrows guy. So, I rate this trip 4/10 for the beginning, than 8/10 for the fleet ship tour. Enough about Hot Tamale and more about the ship, I liked the Emergency exits and the secret hatches. I also loved putting on the Firefighter outfits. Great Trip B. GREAT TRIP.

Naval Base Field Trip.

The other day our class went to the Naden Naval Base in Esquimalt, it was really fun! The first thing we learned about was the fleet school, we toured it and they told showed us all the classes that are in the building and told us what they teach in each class. There was three main trades that they learn about. The first one we learned about was Elelctrician trade which they work on computers and other high tech stuff they work on. The other trades were Stokers and Hall Tech, all these trades are "Hands on" for the students. In the fleet school they showed us different engines and machines they work on, some they use to make other stuff and others they are fixing to put back 0n the boats. The next thing we did after the Fleet school was go eat lunch and socialize with friends. After that we walked over to the boats and got a tour. We were showed the workers cabins on the boat for when they are at sea and showed us where everyone hangs out when they don't have to work and what the kitchen looks like. Our tour guide also told us some of the meanings of the words because they have different words from what we say, like for kitchen they say Gally. We were also shown where the person drives the boat and it looks like it would be very hard to see out of. My favourite part of the field trip would have to be the Tour of the Ships because it was cool seeing what the ships look like inside.

Feild trip

I really liked the feild trip because we got to see everthing the the Navy people do. I really liked when  my group and I went to check out the engines and saw how they were worked on. I liked how we got to go see the big AA gun that was pretty cool. I liked when we went to see the guys working on the chairs. After Fleet school my group and I went for food at the cafeteria (food was great).
After lunch we went to tour the ships. First, we went to the ship's bridge and  our tour guide showed us what every thing does. Then after that we went to the cabins were there was 3 beds on each side stacked up. Then after that we went to see were all the waste went (that was gross). After that me and my group went to go try on the fire suits. Unfortunately it became time to leave. That was one of my favorite field trips I've ever had.

Thanks Mr B

Esquimalt Navy base. WOOT !!

On March 14th , 8-5 went to Esquimalt navy base. It was special because they have never taken a tour on a ship. First we walked up to the fleet school. We saw the diffrent parts of the school like the Mechanices, Drawing etc. It was really cool because on the hallways walls their was really old pictures from the navy from a long time ago. I noticed that the poeple who were showing us around the class rooms were men and I noticed I only saw 2 women! After we were done in the school we went to the cafetria, the food was really good ! Then we went down to the water and walked across the jeddie. We got onto the ship and had to climb up and down really steep stairs/laders. We sat in the captins chair, Saw the Work out Room, Were they slept, And a whole bunch of little Escape holes. I thought that the tour was pretty good, their was a lot of walking in the sun. I think they should let you do more things instead of just talking. Anyways the tour was really great and was worth while.

Navy Base Review

On a scale from 1-10 I would have to rate the base an 8. The beginning of the tour was very, very boring. I had no interest in plumbing and mechanics. The comfy rolling chairs made me feel a bit better in this part of the tour. The walk up the hill was tiring but worth it (well, not THAT tiring). At the top was a deliciously stocked cafeteria. Even though I only bought some fries and a pop (I had packed my own lunch) I was still hungry for more. This was a very good part of the tour. Last and certainly not least was the tour of one of the navy ships. We got a full tour, got to see how things worked and played a flag raising game. This was my favorite part of the trip. Did I learn anything? Nothing that I already knew. I didn't take an interest in the mechanics so I didn't learn much here. The cafeteria, I didn't learn anything but I did learn a bit on the boat. As I said, I rate this trip around an 8.

Esquimalt Navy

My field to the navy base

When I got to the base with my class from school we went to the navy base where my dad works. I did not see my dad but it the base was great. We went on some ships and I saw my dads ship the Protector. The base was cool I saw where the men and women went to school to train for there trades. When I went in the school I saw the all the different trades in the building. I saw the work shops and where they had there meals in the school. I saw the wood shop, plumbing systems shop, the metalworking shop, and the engineering shop. We went for lunch in the main cafeteria and the food was so good. We walked a long way but it was worth it, I had fun. :)(: (O)_(0) :P :D

CFB Esquimalt

On Wednesday, our class took a tour of the navy base in Esquimalt. First our class took a tour of the fleet school witch is where the train people to become better at something like how to be an electrician or sheet metal or wood shop there was a lot of things that they learn there. After the tour of the school we went to the cafeteria and the food was great. after we had lunch we walked down to the navy boats we didn't get to go on the big one but the one we went on was still really big we got a tour of the boat I learned a lot like that it was in Vancouver checking every boat an my tour guild said that they caught a lot of drug smugglers and he then showed us where every body stays and sleeps and where they game it was an awesome tour of the base and then we got C D at the end and we also got book marks and then we came back to school my favorite part was walking around the ship and i had lots of fun.

Field Trip- Navy Base

Yesterday my class went to the navy base. It was by far the best educational field trip I've been to. One reason is because the food. It was amazingly delicious and there was a variety of selections to choose from. I also enjoyed the tour of the boat. My friends and I tried on fire equipment and sat in the captains chair. It was interesting that they had their own little gym so they could be in shape while they are sailing. Although we had to walk around a lot. We got a little rest on there cabin beds. It looked like a crammed uncomfortable space, but it was surprisingly comfy. Over all it was amazing. The tour people were really nice too. I hope we will go there again soon!

Navy Field Trip

Yesterday our class went on a field trip to the Naval base and I really enjoyed it! First of all we learnt about the trades they could learn there, and took a tour of the Fleet School. The were three main trades. The first one we learnt about was the electrician trade. It involved hands on work with computers, and other high tech equipment. Next, we learnt about the stoker trade. And lastly we learnt about Hall tech, which worked with sheet metal, and plumbing. We toured the base and saw huge engine parts taken apart, and many different "Hands on" work stations. My favorite part about the Fleet school was when we saw the huge mechanical guns, that shot hundreds of bullets per second. Then we went to lunch. After that we moved on to a tour of the Navy ships. Taking a tour of the ships was my favorite part of the day! We walked down to the docks and were assigned to our tour guides. My tour guide was very funny, and cracked a lot of jokes. Ha ha. he showed us the bridge, which is the only part of the ship with windows, he showed us the cabins, and Galley, and took us to a part of the ship that was under sea level. The stairs were so steep! In all, the most favorite part of the day for me, was having an awesome tour guide so us around the ships. All together, the day was very fun! :)

Field Trip to The Navy

The Navy was more fun then I thought it would be. I seen on Television a lot about ships and I have always wanted to experience the feeling and I did so, which was really exciting for me. When the people gave us a tour around the workshop, I really wanted to know about what they do there, but I my mind kept drifting away from what they were saying so it was hard to listen. Also, I could not understand most of what there saying because of the noise. After we finished eating we went to there ships. They toured us around the little ships. I was really wishing that we went around the big ones. Are tour guide was really funny. When he talked he made alot of sound effects which made it fun and also he had an accent. At first it was hard to understand his english, but then I got use to his accent  and I was able to understand him. He first showed us where they eat, sleep and use the bathroom. I can not believe they live there for so many months. I don't feel comfortable when I imagine myself there. It was really fun to just to play around on the ships. Being able to go through holes and using the stairs to go up and down there was so exciting. We played a game where we had to change the flag the fastest. That day was really fun and if there was a chance I would like to go again.

Field Trip

The field trip to the Naval Base was extremely fun. I really enjoyed sitting in the back of the bus talking to my friends, and Brandon. I liked touring the classrooms and work rooms of the students from the base. Going to the cafeteria was really fun too, I liked the freedom to chose what you wanted to eat and sit where ever you wanted. My favourite part was touring the boats and learning what the life is like while your out at sea. When I grow up, I hope I'll be able to work at the base because it seems like a really challenging, and fun job. It would also be exciting to serve my Country.

CFB Esquimalt

On Wednesday April 14, my class attended a field trip to the Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt. This Navy base controls the West Coast and the Arctic. Not only a base, CFB Esquimalt is also a fleet school where cadets and average people train to become Seamen. The school had shops like metal and wood. The skills that you learned here were the skills that you would need to fix a hull breach, engine failure, or even a broken air conditioning unit. The tourguide explained to us that each ship works like a small city, everything must be maintained. We toured the school and the ships Yellowknife and the Nanaimo. These two ships work as multi-functioning patrol boats. They mine sweep, map the floor of the ocean, and patrol the waters of the Arctic and the West Coast. The Ships had one 40mm Bofor and two 50cal. machine guns. In the small arms locker they had MP5s, C7s and shotguns. Before we toured the ships we ate at the cafeteria. The cafeteria had good prices, and the food was filling. Overall I thought that the tour was cool.

Feild trip

I really enjoyed the Field trip because it was our first one and it was a good one. I found the ship very interesting but I found the classrooms boring because all we did was listen to some guy talk on and on about how great the navy is and how you should it. The ship was very interesting because to see the confined places where they slept and the places where thy worked, hung out and ate. The part that i didn't like was that I couldn't eat in the cafeteria and that I forgot my lunch on the bus so I went hungry but other than that I had a great time. The tour guide that showed us around the ship was really funny and was so fun.

our trip to the navy base .

Yesterday was our field trip was to the navy base in Esquimalt, over all i enjoyed it but at first it was pretty boring. I didnt like touring around the buildings and learning about the trades, all the walking hurt my feet a lot. But I really liked the tour of the ship, I was in a group with Derek, Jenna, Hayley and Quinn. We saw pretty much everything on the ship and it was pretty intresting. The tour guide was telling us about how no one ever gets to go on the ship and that we're one of the only groups that have. At one point we went in the VERY bottom of the boat, after all of us got out Derek was the last to get out so our tour guide locked him in for a couple seconds and he was freaking out. I got to sit in the captains chair, and go into all the bed rooms and go down all the stairs and into all the storage rooms and everything. While we were at the navy base we had lunch in their cafeteria that was huge, we got food and then continued the day. It was educational but still pretty intresting, I still don't think I'd ever want to be in the navy though. But over all I think it was worth going there for and I wouldn't mind going there again.

Our Field Trip to CFB Esquimalt

On Wednesday, our class took a trip to CFB Esquimalt. The CFB is a Navy base which controls Canada's west coast and the arctic. First, we took a tour of the base, which is basically a school where people can study trades and different stuff like being an electrician or a hull-tech. The school they study in is called the fleet school. After our tour, we went to the cafeteria and the prices are very good because they have no taxes. We went on a tour of the Navy ships after we went for lunch. The boats that we toured were called Yellowknife and Nanaimo. The ships were cool because they had a lot of guns and other stuff, like the big binoculars. They also showed us the bunks. I thank the Navy and what they are doing for Canada's west coast and Canada's arctic. <(")

My field trip to the navy base

The other day I went on a field to the navy base. It was very fun and we saw lots of neat sights. Some parts that I liked were that we got to see all the different shops and classrooms. I liked how our guide explained how all to tools worked and what all the people here learn. Some of the shops that I saw were:
The Wood shop
Metalwork shop
The engineer shop
The plumbing systems shop
and the guide explained how these things work. After we saw the shops we went to the cafeteria for lunch. My favorite part was when we got to go on the ship. The ship had lots of rooms and lots of equipment. I saw the place where the workers sleep. I also saw the storage room which had cool things in it. I went to the bridge and saw all the controls. I liked the telescope because I could see everything up close even peoples faces. The hallways on the ship were very narrow and it had small rooms. My least favorite part was having to walk a long distance from the base to the ship but overall it was a great trip and I had lots of fun.

Field Trip to the Navy Base

During the field trip to the Navy base in Esquimalt , I thought it was very fun but as well as educational. I had fun because we actually got to in the class rooms and learn about the different trades. I felt it was a little boring at times when we had to listen to people talk for a long period of time, but it got even more fun when we learned about the ships and how they work. I thought going on the ships was the funnest part because we got to go in the different rooms and see how everything runs smoothly. I liked how the tour gides engaged us in learning about the ships by playing games with us so we understood things more. I am looking forward to going to the Navy Base again to learn even more things.

HIV/AIDS

I think HIV/AIDS is a serious problem and people should spend more time helping the cause because its a terrible disease to have and to live with. A way for the cause to be helped is to have a contest to see who can donate the most money to HIV/AIDS. There can be commercials and ads on T.V to explain how they can help the cause. I think that everyone is canada and the united states should donate at least 10 dollars to help with HIV/AIDS research. I think it is very important that more money goes to HIV/ AIDS research so the disease can be cured.

HIV/AIDS

People around the world are infected by a disease known as HIV/AIDS. HIV/AIDS is a disease the weakens the immune system. The immune system fights intruding organisms. Without the immune system your body cannot function properly. This horrible disease does not have a cure yet but luckily there is are drug cocktails that keep the symptoms down. Africa is the continent with the largest amount of infected people. Africa is also very poor and the drug cocktails are very expensive so because the majority of the infected cannot be treated the infected numbers continue to grow. Not enough money is being spent on finding the cure and the cost of the drug cocktails is too great.

Helping HIV/AIDS

It is estimated that there are 40 million people around the world that are living with HIV/AIDS today. United Nation agency says that in the future at least 68 million people will die from this disease. To prevent HIV/AIDS from getting worst then it is today, I think we need to donate as much money as it takes to find a cure to control this disease.

There is no medication to stop this disease right now but there is a mixture of drugs, referred to as "drug cocktails." This does not cure the disease but it keeps a person from living a longer life. Scientist need money to find a cure to control HIV/AIDS. If we donate it could give them a lot more help and let them find a cure quicker. Think about the kids that are suffering with HIV/AIDS right now. When they get older the future is in their hands to keep the earth from getting away from its normal routine. Right now adults are responsible of the earth now for their children to enjoy in the future.

We need to donate as much money as it takes to find a cure to control this disease. If we helped and donate we would probably save many lives. Not everyone will be cured but less people would have the disease and what the United Nation agency is predicting is doubtful to happen.

Question 4- HIV/AIDS sheet

I don't know or ever met someone with aids so I don't know the true damage done on their lives. But if its as bad as everyone says it is, then I definitely think that we should spend a lot of our money in a cure. There are many reasons. One of them is that, people who were born with it usually die at a younger age or spread it to other humans. Another is that if we let this disease infect more and more people, then more and more people will die. It will be the black death all over again. Except this time, humanity may be wiped out. It is a possibility. But don't worry too much. Just give lots of money to the HIV/AIDS foundation. The chance of an AIDS apocalypse is much more likely then the sun exploding or a zombie apocalypse. I don't know if zombies are real, but I'm not taking any chances. So pay lots of money to the AIDS foundation, Load your guns and make sure you wear sunscreen because there is a lot of trouble coming.

Black Death & HIV/AIDS

Human Immunodeficiency virus, also known as HIV/AIDS, is a horrible disease that needs to be brought under more control. I strongly agree with having more money going towards this. Canada has set lots of goals for this. They are doing there best to prevent new infections and slow the progression of the disease. Also, to reduce the social and ecomic impact of it. You cannot get HIV/AIDS from holding hands, hugging or other casual contact. It spreads by unprotected intercourse, sharing needles, such as those to inject drugs, steroids or even those used for tattoos. People with another sexually transmitted disease, are at greater risk for getting HIV/AIDS during sex with infected parteners. There is an estimate of 42 million people living with HIV/AIDS. The first case of HIV/AIDS was reported in Africa in the early 1980's. It has now spread worldwide. There is no official cure for this, but in some cases, it can be put under control with medication. A mixture of drugs referred to as, "drug cocktails" can be effective. The president of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki, has warned that poverty is the worlds biggest killer because people cannot afford to buy the drugs they need. The UNAIDS (united nations), estimates of numbers of people who could become infected in the future, may have to be re estimated to a greater number. This agency also researches the spread of HIV/AIDS and it believes that over the next two decades, at least 68 million people will die of HIV/AIDS. The majority of these deaths will occur in the poorest countries in the world. Africa is the continent hardest hit by this disease. I think there are many ways we can stop this by fundraising, such as a telethon, a walk or marathon for the cure, or even paying a small amount of money in your everyday life, to go towards the cure. This is very important to help fix this, and I think everyone should pitch in to make this happen!

HIV/Aids in Africa

I think we should definitely pay more money to try and cure aids. It's an extreme disease that I, and many others, wish to be cured. It's ruined so many children's lives in Africa and others that are living here! Aids can kill you, so why don't we have a cure yet? I think that we all, as people, should donate more money. I would be willing to do a bottle drive, sell something, or even just earn money to donate. This is a horrible disease and I really do feel bad for anybody who either has it or has a friend or family member who has it.
I think we should spend more money on this because it's really sad and something I think most people find really disturbing. Just in Sub-Saharan there are an estimated 22.4 million people living with aids. That's about two thirds of the whole globe of people that are living with it. Just to make you realize how bad it is, since this pandemic has started, more then 14 million children have lost one or both of their parents to aids. If nothing changes, the number of deaths will only rise to higher numbers. If we donate now, we may be able to help. We can help with education and money and maybe even get a cure one day.

Should More Money be Spent on HIV/AIDS?

I think that more money should be spent on the HIV/AIDS because, if we don't take care of the problem now,(in its early forms) then it will spread from nation to nation, country to country killing billions and billions of people. If that happens, however, we will lose great numbers in the population. Now, that might happen, and if it does there will only be a few thousand of us left, which means less and less stuff might not get invented for the future, education for children, on the other hand, will be having major problems with the government officials and other people. Humanity would be at one of its most horrible events ever.

hiv give some money to help them

There are millions of humans dying from HIV and the disease is in every country. The worst country for HIV is Africa and they are so poor we need to help them. Canada should give extra money out to them and help the HIV spread to a end now. Canada is trying to help them in there hour of need please help them. You can help by donating money to them. this would stop HIV once and for all.
This is what HIV does to you

HIV/AIDS & Black Death.

I believe we should spend more money on medicine for the cure of HIV/AIDS because it would save alot of peoples lives. This disease is sprended very easily especially if you have a parent with HIV/AIDS. HIV/AIDS first reportly started in Africa in the 1980's and spread to North America & Europe then finallyh spreaded worldwide. A young child could HIV/AIDS just because her/his mother or father has the disease.HIV/AIDS has killed many people in the past and can kill more people in the future if they d0n't eventually make a cure for this terrible disease. Some children are abandoned by there parents who have died from HIV/AIDS and now have to live with there grandparents which sometimes can slowly be dieing. Right now in Sub-Saharan Africa there are currently 22.4 million people with HIV which is around two thirds of the total population. In 2008, 1.4 million people died from AIDS and 1.9 million came infected with HIV. Since the beginning of this horrible disease, 14 million children have lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS. Everyone in the world should do something towards the start of a campaign or fundraiser to finally try to make a cure for HIV/AIDS and hopefully a smart scientist will make a medicine or vaccine for it. The Black Death was a epidemic in the middle 14th century but I think HIV/AIDS now is way worse than the black death back than.HIV/AIDS should have a medicine made to cure it very soon.

HIV/AIDS

More money should definitely be spent on finding a way to help the HIV/AIDS situation because researchers have predicted that at least 68 million people will die from the disease in the next two decades. Most of the deaths will occur in the third world countries, and it is estimated that 39 percent of adults in just Botswana are infected. This disease is spreading fast.

Out of the 40 million people in the world are living with HIV/AIDS, 3 million are children. This is horrible because these children will be the next generation of people in the world, and it is extremely important that they do not have to go through this. They need to be alive to experience the world, it's not fair that they get this disease. There is not enough money spent on trying to fix this, and it is crucial that it be controlled.

If we spend more money on HIV/AIDS, then people who are suffering could receive "drug cocktails" or mixtures of medication that can drastically help the disease. With more money, we could create and distribute many more of these- the downside is that they are very expensive. Many sufferers cannot afford such a thing, and I think that it is not fair that some people receive the cocktails and some don't. This is another good reason why people need to pay attention and why more money should be spent, instead of useless things like war.

Another thing we could do is educate the people in Africa and explain to them how HIV/AIDS is transmitted, what it is, and what they can do to help. Even taking a few minutes to explain why sharing hypodermic needles is not a good idea, can help at least one person in the future. Isn't that what we're trying to do, help people realise and be safe?

To get more money for this cause, we need to get our point across and let people know that this is serious business. There are simple fundraisers that take basically no planning, and there are also larger events that can be planned out to raise money. Things like fairs, movie nights and other such events can be planned with larger groups, and in schools an HIV/AIDS day could be planned where everyone brings in, say, a dollar. You can even make your own event, by yourself, and go around doing something like collecting cans and donating the money received from recycling them to charity. If we take action- if each one of us does something, even if it is small, we could change the world's HIV/AIDS pandemic.

Why More Money Should be Spent on HIV AIDS

More money should be spent on HIV/AIDS research because lives will be shortened and peoples full potential will be compromised. If we leave it long enough it will eventually infect vast percentages of the global population. Many peoples lives would be shorted, most won't make it through high school. The education system would be severely crippled. Work would be scarce and the economy would crash. Eventually trained personnel would die and so would there knowledge would die with them. Innovations would cease. In the long term civilization would collapse. Humanity would separate in to small tribes and villages. 10,000 years of civilization would go to wast. We'd start all the way back at square one.

HIV/AIDS & Black Death

I think they should spend more money on HIV/AIDS because there are more people dying from it then any other disease in the world or in history. I think black death was very leathal but I think HIV/AIDS is worse. I think the government should hire some of the top scientists to try and make a cure for it because it is devistating the world and the population. I also dont think they should use dogs for testing the cure becauseI wouldnt want them to try and cure it because if its bad it could killing animals. If you have to test it then I dont think it will be right, either you get it or you dont, but DON'T test it on animals.

People should be putting more money in to HIV/aids because in the next two decades about 68 million people will die most of these deaths will occur in the poorest countries. About 40 million people are living with HIV/aids in the world including three million children. I think that this is way to much people living with this disease and looking at the economy people are not going to be able to by the drugs to keep them alive and support there family. The same thing is going on in Africa but its way worst the people living in Africa because they only make some money and the drug cocktails cost way more. So either people should start caring and donate money to the virus or they should give the drugs for a price every one can buy and still live there life or give them out for free to the people who needs it the most. People don't relies that this disease is deadly in till they get it. the risk of getting HIV/aids is increasing every day soon the whole human race will be wiped out or we can end it now and we can live for thousands of years to come . the way we can stop this virus is by found raising , donation or if we help where the virus is the worst.

HIV/AIDS

I think that the people should put some more money into the HIV/AID pandemic because there are meny people dying from this desease in the world. In 2008 the amount of people who had HIV/AIDS was 33.5 millon. The adults living with HIV/AIDS in 2008 was 31.3 million. the woman living with HIV/AIDS 15.7 million and most of them has died from it. Children with HIV/AIDS is 2.1 million. In Africa its even worse there about 60 million people that have HIV/AIDS and they are dying from it we need to help theses people. Thats why we need to send money to theses people that are suffering in the world and we should stop this right now.

HIV/AIDS Pandemic

I think that people should put more money into the HIV/AIDS Pandemic because there are about 60 million people living in Africa right now with AIDS. Africa is not a very wealthy country so they can not afford to buy the medication. We are supplying the medication but like I said, Africa is not a very wealthy country so they keep dying. We have to start investing and giving the medication they need for free, we will be doing a lot of good in the world. In 2008 almost 33.5 million people in the world are diagnosed with AIDS. The amount of adults living with AIDS is about 31.5 million people in the world. Women and children living with AIDS adds up to 17.8 million people in the world. We have to contribute to people with AIDS, and if we do not people will be dying out there and we could have done something to help but we just sit back and watch. HIV/AIDS is sometimes fatal, think about the people in the world who are suffering in Africa right now. Please contribute to HIV/AIDS, start a fund, do something to help the suffering in the World.

HIV/AIDS, question 4.

HIV/AIDS is a terrible disease that has led to many deaths. We need to make more of an effort to help slow down and eventually put an end to the spread of HIV/AIDS, and maybe one day, a cure! Throughout Africa, a poor country, HIV/AIDS is spreading rapidly. This disease leaves grandparents to take care of their grandchildren because they're parents have died, it leaves husbands with no wives, wives with no husbands. Also, young, innocent children are born with HIV/AIDS because they're mother had this disease when she was pregnant, the child automatically has to live his/her whole life with HIV/AIDS. Currently, in Africa, there are about 22.4 million people living with HIV/AIDS! Starting from the beginning of the epidemic, over 14 million children have lost either 1, or both of their parents to HIV/AIDS, leaving them alone, or their tired and worn out grandparents to take care of them. This disease must be put to an end! We have to do our part to stop this terrible and life threatening disease. We should pay attention to fundraisers, and organize some of our own. If the Terry Fox run works for cancer, why can't we try something along those lines for HIV/AIDS? Let's try it, and focus more about this virus. Before, Black Death was the worst pandemic in history, since then, HIV/AIDS has taken over the title and is the worst pandemic disease right now! This is a news flash, we need to put an end to HIV/AIDS, and try to find a cure!
I think a large amount of money should go towards saving people from aid/hiv because, if we don't in time it would get worse. It would be spread around everywhere get way.. worse than it is right now. Already we have thousands of people in canada dieing from it and, millions in other places. Just sufering and worring that they can't do the things they loved to do before. Alot of people might be losing their brother or sister or even their mom or a friend. If you were to think for a second you were in their shoes how painful it might be like. Well we can help them think about it, if we all pitched in like 30 dollers we could, raise up too 20,000,000 witched would help a large amount with getting rid of Aids/HIV!!!!

HIV/AIDS & Black Death.

HIV/AIDS is a horrible disease that has led to many deaths. In my opinion i think that not enough money is being spent on a cure. HIV/AIDS kills the t-cells if the immune system, which results of a fatal immune deficiency after a period that last about 10 years or so. Most people, when diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, no symptoms with occure. The awful virus kills the cells that are primarly infection fighters called CD4 cells. AIDS is the later stage of HIV infection, when the body loses the ability to fight other infections. The virus passes form person to person primarily through sexual activity. It can also spread through the sharing of hypodermic needles, and mothers who are infected can pass the disease on to their children at birth. A cure for HIV/AIDS has not yet been discovered yet, but many scientists and doctors are working on it. Not enough money is being spent on HIV/AIDS, when it should be one of our main priorities insted of building amusement parks, and malls, and other pointless things. If we keep spending our money on building, and more and more poeple are getting HIV/AIDS, then more and more people are dying, and won't be able to use the things we build.
A United Nations agenct called UNAIDS believes that we are only at the beginning of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. This agency researches the spread of HIV/AIDS and it beliebes that over the next two decades, at least 68 million people will die of HIV/AIDS. The majority of these deaths will occure in the poorest countries in the world, big surprise. If we use our money, and donate it to the poor, third world countries, less and less people will die. UNAIDS estimates there are 40 million people in the world living with HIV/AIDS, including three million children. Africa is the continent hardest hit by HIV/AIDS. In one Africa country, Botswana, 39 per cent of adults are infected with the virus. While there is still no cure for HIV/AIDS, in some cases the disease can be controlled with medicatioin. A mixture of drugs, referred to as "drug cocktails" can be effective in prolonging the life of HID/AIDS sufferers. However, the "drug cocktails" are very expensive, which is another reason we should be dontating money to third world countries. By helping with HIV/AIDS, your not only helping people that are affected by it, your helping everyone. Making the world a better place, for everyone. :)

The Black Death and HIV / AIDS

We need to bring HIV / AIDS under control! I have never met someone who had it, but i have herd a great amount about it. We should be spending more to find a cure that could save millions. Kids and adults have to be more informed so we have a better risk of not getting it. If we don't get this message out. HIV / AIDS is going to harm our country badly. Even worse than the Black Death did. If this goes on for any longer, soon there will be a huge crisis and it will be hazardous. It will be even harder to cure all those that we love, so why not put our efforts in finding a cure now? No one should ever suffer with this horrible disease. We HAVE TO find a cure! Are we going to stand here and do nothing while our people are dying all over the world? We have to think about our future generations. Do you want them to have a chance at getting HIV / AIDS?

HIV/AIDS

Millions of people, mostly Africans, are infected with the horrible disease known as HIV/AIDS. HIV/AIDS is a virus that destroys the immune system, which protects the body from diseases. If your body cannot protect itself from the millions of diseases in the world, how could you survive? since the first case of HIV/AIDS in Africa in the 1980's, this has a been a question that has puzzled the world for years. Now the problem that troubles the average person is that why we haven't found a cure for this disease. The problem is money, it always is. Though there is a mixture of drugs called a "drug cocktail" that can be effective in prolonging the life of victims. However, the problem, again, is money and the poor, suffering Africans cannot afford these drug cocktails that can price up to $250 a day. Up to 40 million people are shadowed with HIV/AIDS, which a wake-up call that needs to be picked up. To make matters even worse, it is estimated that a whopping 68 million will die of HIV/AIDS within the next twenty years! That's more than 3 million people a year that are dying from this pandemic. If the government doesn't put a stop to this, maybe half the world will die from HIV/AIDS and the drug cocktails aren't helping. Out of the 40 million people with of HIV/AIDS, only 730,000 are receiving cocktail, and unfortunately, only 30,000 of them are African. Not only are they suffering from poverty, HIV/AIDS has practically become a daily part of their lives. By this rate, I wouldn't be surprised to see continents wiped out by this pandemic.

Why more money should be spent to stop HIV/AIDS

I think more money should be spent on finding a to stop HIV because

  • People from all around the world are dieing from HIV/AIDS (Around 68 million)
  • The disease can spread very fast
  • The population will decrease in lots of cities
  • Kids can die too even pregnant woman.
  • Doctors can even get the disease
  • Towns and cities will lose money
  • Africa has lots of sick and dieing people
If the disease is stopped then
  • It won't just cure Canada it will cure the world
  • Population in cities will increase
  • There will be more doctors to tend the sick
  • Towns and cities will get more money from tourists
  • Africa will have less sick people
Canada can help all theses countries just by donating money to help doctors find a cure for HIV/AIDS

hiv & aids .

Most people know about the rapid spread of HIV/AIDS in the world but mostly in poor parts of Africa. So many people are dying because of it and still there isn't a cure. If something so serious is happening and killing so many people I would expect that they would try really hard and put more money and time into finding a cure for this deadly disease. If no one does anything about it, it will just keep spreading and killing so many people. Worldwide estimates that as of December 2000, there were an estimated 36.1 million people living with HIV/AIDS (34.7 million adults and 1.4 million children under 15). Since the epidemic began, an estimated 21.8 million people have died of AIDS (17.5 million adults and 4.3 million children under 15). Just think about how bad it's effecting the world already, if we just leave this alone and don't find a cure all it's going to do is get worse. Alot of people don't care as much and actually understand how bad HIV/AIDS can be and how many people have died from it. I think scientests or whoever is incharge of finding cures for it should try alittle harder because it's been going on a long time and it's not going to stop until we make it.

HIV/AIDS

I think that HIV/AIDS is a serious problem. If we all work together then this disease could be stopped. I predict that if everyone in the world (6.8 billion people) donated a reasonable and affordible amount for a cure, then this global pandemic would end once and for all. Another idea to stop this disease would be adding t.v and radio commercials explaining what HIV/AIDS is, how it is spread, how its caused, and what to do and where to go if you think you have this disease. If we all worked together to stop HIV/AIDS then this global pandemic would end once and for all.

Brenna Patterson :)

HIV/AIDS

The pandemic should be kept under control so more people can recover from the disease. More money should be spent so that the disease is not widely spread in Canada because more Africans are coming to Canada looking for a better life in Canada and coming over and marrying Canadians. AIDS should be stop ed because it is affecting millions of people that don't have much money to begin with and they have to stay home and take care of their family when they could be out making money working. The pandemic should be stopped because more and more people are dieing now 46 million people have died cause of the disease and it is about 2 times as many more people have died from AIDS as the black death.

Stop Homework!

I think we should stop homework indefinitely, because we have school six hours a day, homework after school for about one to two hours which equals up to seven to eight hours a day of learning. Other than school people do other things as well such as sports, playing instruments and having some down time in life. Take me for example, I play soccer and I can not miss practice unless I am sick or I really can not go, so when I do go I usually have not finished my homework by then so when I get back I am finishing it up at 8:00-9:00. We kids also have friends to hang out with, but you, Mr.B are keeping use from doing things like hanging out with friends and having some downtime, so ban homework....indefinably.

let us go early! (:

Dear Mr.Westhaver.

i think we should be able to leave school early everyday if we finish our work early. I think this is because if we focus and do our work it might motivate us to get it all done so we can leave. If all our work is done, theirs no point in staying at school, and any extra stuff we need to get done we can do for homework on our own time. Any students that wish to do their work at school, can stay the full day, and any that want to finish it and then leave early, must make sure it is ok with their parents and home room teacher. Before students leave, they must show their teachers their finished, assigned homework. Students might get extra sleep and be more focused the next day, from having more time off during the day, and a lot less homework. In my opinion, this could help in a lot of ways and make the learning experience more enjoyable.

we should go home when our work is done

Dear Mr. Westhaver,

I think we should get to go home when our work is done because if we dont most kids just want to sit there and talk but if we got an oportunity to leave then I think students would try harder so they can go home. I think they shouldnt be able to go home if the teacher hasnt checked to see if there work is done. I also think we should do this because at the end of tyhe day all the kids keep fooling around and get in trouble because they get to go home soon and that puts stress on the teachers and principals. This would also give more time to kids that have sports and other things that they have to jam in to there night.

Why should we have to do homework?

Why should we have to do homework? Almost every kid that goes to school works for more than five hours a day for five days a week. That's about twenty five hours a week, and when you do an hour extra for homework a day, the total is more than thirty hours a week. Another reason not to have to do homework is most kids have a sport to practice or a musical instrument to play. I personally have a guitar and I practice about an hour a day and an extra hour on Wednesdays. Some kids play sports which can take up a lot of the rest of the day after school and then they have no choice but to either skip their practice or not do their homework and risk failing. We need a break from school and when we are playing with friends instead of doing homework we are having that break.

Down with homework.

Dear Mr. Burgess,
I have taken part of my time to speak for myself and the division of 8-5. All of us get up early in the morning to get ready for the long six hours of school, we work extremely hard and the only thing we get in return, is more work! Most teachers dont realize that we have more homework from the five other teachers that teach all of our subjects. Having too much homework, can wear us down to exhaustion and not allow us to present the best of our ability, affect our sleeping patterns, and cause us to be unhealthy by having no time to exercise and eat healthy meals with our families.

please, take this into consideration.

sincerely, Brenna.

No More Homework

I think that we shouldn't be assigned homework anymore. One reason I think we shouldn't have any homework because we have done work for almost 5 hours at least and then we would have to do more in the comfort in our own home. Every kid in our class, and even our school, has something to do because we have lives. They also expect us to do it even though we have things to do, like sports, or practicing instruments, and even hanging out with friends. The worst thing is, most teachers won't even believe you. For me, I have soccer 4 times a week minimum just with my team. I also I go to my drum practice once a week, but I practice everyday for at least half an hour. I even game on my PS3 for almost an hour and I go on Facebook and Youtube for an hour too. Even though this seems like a lot, I still hang out with my friends every weekend for almost the whole day. When I explain this to my teachers, they always say that I have a lot of free time, but I'm willing to give up any of that stuff do hours of extra homework that I have done in school. This is why I think that we shouldn't do any more homework.

Wi-Fi at ROMS!

Internet is a huge part of society and our everyday lives. Why not make it easier to access for where ever you are in the school? Wi-Fi at ROMS could really make learning easier for the students as well as the teachers for accessing google as well as learning websites. Most teachers are brain washed to think that all students will only use Internet for facebook and twitter and all these "terrible" websites. Yes, students do use it for facebook, but we also use it for google, learning sites, and YouTube, which is great for searching educational videos. Also, some teachers think that Wi-Fi could be a distraction while class. Well instead of it being a distraction, think of it as being a more accessible feature in the new, improved Royal Oak. Instead of having ALL the students for each class use up 30 computers and having to book a time for each block and having to share with ALL the teachers is a big pain, instead we could simply just stay in our classrooms and our teacher could have an eye on us, as long as doing is own personal work in the class. Wi-Fi is not a bad thing! All the principals and teachers are convinced that all Wi-Fi is, is a bad distraction, and they never think about the "pro's" and only think about the "con's" which is silly. As you can tell Wi-Fi is a great idea and that Mr. B should definitely think about giving us the password, we can prove to you that it's worth it, and we won't let you down!

Persuading My Teacher to Let Me Leave Early When I'm done My Work

Persuading to let us leave early after were done all our work for the day, seems pretty friendly in some cases. First of all, if we were done in time, we could practically have the whole day to stay at home, and not worry about a thing that's related to homework. Second, we would be able to do things with our parents, that we got to miss out on when we came to school, plus going out the family is nice, once in a while. Third, if a major crisis is happening, like the death of a loved one, which I have experienced alot, you get to hear what happened and see what you can do, (although mom & dad won't give out to much info because they just want to keep it to the adults to handle).

Presuade my Teachers to Stop Giving us Homework

I think we should not have any homework for three reasons. Number one: We have suffered through homework for as long as we've been in school. Naturally kids and teens procrastinate when it comes to homework. It then takes us longer to complete it. We waste all our time worrying. Stress builds up and we get grumpy around our family. We may even fight with them, due to our foul mood. Number two: We may have a certain type of sport that we must attend too. If we have homework, we might miss our game or go to the practice, aggressive and not a team player. Number three: with all this paper we're using with this homework, our trees re slowly dying and if enough trees die, we will run out of air. Yes, homework could possibly kill us in the future. Homework is irrelevant. It should be optional. If it was optional, you could either brush up on something whn u need too or go home and have fun. Studying on the other hand would not be optional. Studying would replace homework. I find it harder to study when I have a pile of homework that i have too do. If there was no homework, then i would be able to study better, and do better on my tests. Homework takes up space in our doutangs, binders, and books. It is easy to become unorganized. When we are unorganized we become stressed. Homework is an irrelevent, annoying, stressful task for all kids, but not only for the kids and teens. Parents get stressed from our stress. Teachers get stressed from marking mountains of homework. We ALL get stressed from the same thing. So why do we keep handing out homework? It seems so pointless....

Homework- Really All That Necessary?

I personally think that homework is necessary, but to an extent. Homework is important for practicing the things you learn daily at school and drilling them into your memory, but don't you think that having so much work that you're too tired to even think about what your doing, is over-doing it? For one, students need a specific amount of time each day to unwind and relax. Without this period of time, the stress of too much work and constantly being busy is overwhelming, and can be unhealthy for the body, and the mind. Students soon become so stressed that they may not be able to function properly, which makes them distracted due to worrying. If they are distracted, do you think that they will concentrate in class? No. This is usually what irritates teachers- lack of attention from the students in class.

Another thing to think about is how huge amounts of homework will make the students feel. After a while, students will just give up because they feel overwhelmed, frustrated, and sometimes, downright bored. They will think that there is no point in trying anymore, because they will finish one thing, and get another assignment. After a while, if the student does not have super-human powers to help them finish work lightning fast, the work will build up and the student will end up in a downward spiral of constantly doing, thinking about, and breathing homework every second of the day. This is the time when students don't really care anymore. I don't think teachers will want to hear that students think there is no point in doing the work, or worse yet, think that the teacher's only goal in life is to torture kids with an endless, mounting supply of constant work.

Finally, I honestly think that the amount of homework kids receive may be a result of the teacher's mood. Maybe if the teachers also had a while to relax (longer than an hour!) where they were not allowed to think about lessons or work or planning, they would be in a much happier mood. I know that for some that is very hard because it is their job to plan these things, but maybe with a little organization, some sleep, and a bit understanding, teachers could make an agreement with students that no matter how bad their day was or how horrible they're feeling, they will not take it out on their students.

I hope that the reasons I have provided are reasonable and understandable regarding homework.
