Esquimalt Navy base. WOOT !!

On March 14th , 8-5 went to Esquimalt navy base. It was special because they have never taken a tour on a ship. First we walked up to the fleet school. We saw the diffrent parts of the school like the Mechanices, Drawing etc. It was really cool because on the hallways walls their was really old pictures from the navy from a long time ago. I noticed that the poeple who were showing us around the class rooms were men and I noticed I only saw 2 women! After we were done in the school we went to the cafetria, the food was really good ! Then we went down to the water and walked across the jeddie. We got onto the ship and had to climb up and down really steep stairs/laders. We sat in the captins chair, Saw the Work out Room, Were they slept, And a whole bunch of little Escape holes. I thought that the tour was pretty good, their was a lot of walking in the sun. I think they should let you do more things instead of just talking. Anyways the tour was really great and was worth while.

Navy Base Review

On a scale from 1-10 I would have to rate the base an 8. The beginning of the tour was very, very boring. I had no interest in plumbing and mechanics. The comfy rolling chairs made me feel a bit better in this part of the tour. The walk up the hill was tiring but worth it (well, not THAT tiring). At the top was a deliciously stocked cafeteria. Even though I only bought some fries and a pop (I had packed my own lunch) I was still hungry for more. This was a very good part of the tour. Last and certainly not least was the tour of one of the navy ships. We got a full tour, got to see how things worked and played a flag raising game. This was my favorite part of the trip. Did I learn anything? Nothing that I already knew. I didn't take an interest in the mechanics so I didn't learn much here. The cafeteria, I didn't learn anything but I did learn a bit on the boat. As I said, I rate this trip around an 8.

Esquimalt Navy

My field to the navy base

When I got to the base with my class from school we went to the navy base where my dad works. I did not see my dad but it the base was great. We went on some ships and I saw my dads ship the Protector. The base was cool I saw where the men and women went to school to train for there trades. When I went in the school I saw the all the different trades in the building. I saw the work shops and where they had there meals in the school. I saw the wood shop, plumbing systems shop, the metalworking shop, and the engineering shop. We went for lunch in the main cafeteria and the food was so good. We walked a long way but it was worth it, I had fun. :)(: (O)_(0) :P :D

CFB Esquimalt

On Wednesday, our class took a tour of the navy base in Esquimalt. First our class took a tour of the fleet school witch is where the train people to become better at something like how to be an electrician or sheet metal or wood shop there was a lot of things that they learn there. After the tour of the school we went to the cafeteria and the food was great. after we had lunch we walked down to the navy boats we didn't get to go on the big one but the one we went on was still really big we got a tour of the boat I learned a lot like that it was in Vancouver checking every boat an my tour guild said that they caught a lot of drug smugglers and he then showed us where every body stays and sleeps and where they game it was an awesome tour of the base and then we got C D at the end and we also got book marks and then we came back to school my favorite part was walking around the ship and i had lots of fun.

Field Trip- Navy Base

Yesterday my class went to the navy base. It was by far the best educational field trip I've been to. One reason is because the food. It was amazingly delicious and there was a variety of selections to choose from. I also enjoyed the tour of the boat. My friends and I tried on fire equipment and sat in the captains chair. It was interesting that they had their own little gym so they could be in shape while they are sailing. Although we had to walk around a lot. We got a little rest on there cabin beds. It looked like a crammed uncomfortable space, but it was surprisingly comfy. Over all it was amazing. The tour people were really nice too. I hope we will go there again soon!

Navy Field Trip

Yesterday our class went on a field trip to the Naval base and I really enjoyed it! First of all we learnt about the trades they could learn there, and took a tour of the Fleet School. The were three main trades. The first one we learnt about was the electrician trade. It involved hands on work with computers, and other high tech equipment. Next, we learnt about the stoker trade. And lastly we learnt about Hall tech, which worked with sheet metal, and plumbing. We toured the base and saw huge engine parts taken apart, and many different "Hands on" work stations. My favorite part about the Fleet school was when we saw the huge mechanical guns, that shot hundreds of bullets per second. Then we went to lunch. After that we moved on to a tour of the Navy ships. Taking a tour of the ships was my favorite part of the day! We walked down to the docks and were assigned to our tour guides. My tour guide was very funny, and cracked a lot of jokes. Ha ha. he showed us the bridge, which is the only part of the ship with windows, he showed us the cabins, and Galley, and took us to a part of the ship that was under sea level. The stairs were so steep! In all, the most favorite part of the day for me, was having an awesome tour guide so us around the ships. All together, the day was very fun! :)

Field Trip to The Navy

The Navy was more fun then I thought it would be. I seen on Television a lot about ships and I have always wanted to experience the feeling and I did so, which was really exciting for me. When the people gave us a tour around the workshop, I really wanted to know about what they do there, but I my mind kept drifting away from what they were saying so it was hard to listen. Also, I could not understand most of what there saying because of the noise. After we finished eating we went to there ships. They toured us around the little ships. I was really wishing that we went around the big ones. Are tour guide was really funny. When he talked he made alot of sound effects which made it fun and also he had an accent. At first it was hard to understand his english, but then I got use to his accent  and I was able to understand him. He first showed us where they eat, sleep and use the bathroom. I can not believe they live there for so many months. I don't feel comfortable when I imagine myself there. It was really fun to just to play around on the ships. Being able to go through holes and using the stairs to go up and down there was so exciting. We played a game where we had to change the flag the fastest. That day was really fun and if there was a chance I would like to go again.

Field Trip

The field trip to the Naval Base was extremely fun. I really enjoyed sitting in the back of the bus talking to my friends, and Brandon. I liked touring the classrooms and work rooms of the students from the base. Going to the cafeteria was really fun too, I liked the freedom to chose what you wanted to eat and sit where ever you wanted. My favourite part was touring the boats and learning what the life is like while your out at sea. When I grow up, I hope I'll be able to work at the base because it seems like a really challenging, and fun job. It would also be exciting to serve my Country.

CFB Esquimalt

On Wednesday April 14, my class attended a field trip to the Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt. This Navy base controls the West Coast and the Arctic. Not only a base, CFB Esquimalt is also a fleet school where cadets and average people train to become Seamen. The school had shops like metal and wood. The skills that you learned here were the skills that you would need to fix a hull breach, engine failure, or even a broken air conditioning unit. The tourguide explained to us that each ship works like a small city, everything must be maintained. We toured the school and the ships Yellowknife and the Nanaimo. These two ships work as multi-functioning patrol boats. They mine sweep, map the floor of the ocean, and patrol the waters of the Arctic and the West Coast. The Ships had one 40mm Bofor and two 50cal. machine guns. In the small arms locker they had MP5s, C7s and shotguns. Before we toured the ships we ate at the cafeteria. The cafeteria had good prices, and the food was filling. Overall I thought that the tour was cool.
